The Poetry of Mark Daniel Milbocker
Peripheral

Fluttering shutters open to the spring
wellfont of a juggernaut vaulting or
that slow committed trajectory we watch
as too many framed defenestrations

The same love turns the hydrant's nut
into a misted rainbow parade of
sumptuous morsels splayed en vogue
by wandering fingertips yearning

A palette of oversaturated strawberries
of varying ripeness wants only for a
wet-tipped persimmon to scrawl
its bitter puckerings to burning

Gilding another dawning or sunset disc
til the vermilion chant ceases
with dark twinklings opening to
celestial dander, settlings of turning

So trace I the perimeter wounded
while my nexus sings a defiant villanelle
a wonder-nipped escape beyond velocity
as too few gather to wail away the wall

Or lay hands to heal urgent impossibilities
severed lineages waking to a new normal
on the floor of an abandoned gymnasium
where we were supposed to join the tribe
or die unseen in a foreign fatherland
