The Poetry of Mark Daniel Milbocker
The Civilization of Friendship

fair enough
woke I to find my corpulence unclothed
Thank you for the robe and
glass of Tokaji as we sit in your
stained-glass encrusted patio
swollen with the warm shadows
of aquamarines and emeralds
and pick over fossilized stories
pausing to fill the latest quest-lamp
with the slippery spirits of passing time
to flicker into the night and
cast sleepy smiles as we struggle
to sit upright and listen
while we pontificate from the
tempestuous seashore of our
rhapsodic travails and measure
the expanse of our vistas
thusly I pivot though fearing a thud
and dissipate into the lure
of your charisma.
