The Poetry of Mark Daniel Milbocker
Nomenclature

History marks with acanthus
where flames once sputtered
from sanguine spoils
a corner front and left
a curve right and rear
a canonical appellation
granted by a council convened
libations melt the profane
carve blessed runes for
children to ponder and revere
for such revery of the gussied up
betrays their Loki grin
smirked while spent spines crumble
beneath the grandeur of cenotaphs
sealed by the oblique arts of
blood oaths whispered in the
incantations of last breaths
so burns the succession of the monolithic
painted on the papyrus ceilings
of old men's minds.
