The Poetry of Mark Daniel Milbocker
Poetic Opalescence

So shimmers fade in and out
sweet pulse of curtains falling
cloud cotton blooms from the bluescape
rains out into oily rainbow puddles
as a finger lifts from the asphalt
before surrendering to heaviness
reborn as moth wing flutter into
hurricane-shifted dunes drawn out
from crab crevices and the domiciles
of sand fleas surrounded by limpet dance
never has the diastolic of capillaries
been so close to the fingertip of creation
washing sumi-e in broad black strokes
whose edges eddy in silvered iridescences
that let fly sparks like lithium slaked,
a parade of glowing archetypical glyphs
each a flowering song of divergence
arcane tribal avatars whose children
would grow up to draw mathematics in
zircon spoil and toss tin cans[1] at the stars
or at least red cars[2] caught in sacred
spirals between the void and verve of
atmospheric fire and earth, the flint
within which we burrow our cities
into a thorniness of angled metallic
concretions that yet catch the morning
light like pastel prisms that smile
at our colonistic tendencies and invite
lost boys to leave their prepuce of prejudices
behind and adventure into a jungle
of guayusan dreams that open the circle
of our timeless family and echo once again
the call to hunt the hoary boar
that taunts our innocence into knowing
from whence and why and to where
so our stick figure theories can pantomime
on cerulean canvas what the next tessellation
can embody with bones and sinew wrapped
with tongue outstretched and opalescent.
