The Poetry of Mark Daniel Milbocker
Cascading

Hike me now to Watkins Glen
and walk between the veil of falls
and forest bathing awash in the chime
of a trillion drops of lemming water
and climb the fossil-studded dais of
glacial leavings atop granite riverbeds
let me stand in the joining of plunge pools
and catch the drip of silence between
my naked toes dancing in the puddles
of long past rainstorms and the
shower of secluded years engorging
the old-growth of the pristine
let my inner primate crack this flinted
walnut and pick through the meat
of the raven's sooth.
