The Poetry of Mark Daniel Milbocker
Pale

In the starry night
my heart grows paler
than the moon
overhead
I long
to be where I am
not

Time erases the
letters inscribed
for ever
now gone
evaporated
from
the tears
that washed my heart
clean

Can I live on
to say I have not loved
or did I love by not loving
How can I justify
the pain she feels without me
or is this my vanity?

The will of the Lord
baffles the thought-wise
his Love beyond mine
covering her
evades my conception
and control
I feel lost
in his wisdom
I cannot grasp
onto any firmness
except his being
I know I am
with Him.
