The Poetry of Mark Daniel Milbocker
Verb Fossils

Where footprints cross forever
amidst the noisy shadow hum of hives
bones found broken as skulls impaled
in pools of opalescent shimmer
an ocean blackness of crude memories
congeals into a strangely soft obsidian

From such mythical arrows drawn in
sandstone clay and the fall of coprolites
in lush jungle days of jurassic blaze
Pangaea birthing her indiscriminance
to the six-cornered sphere so one day
clever apes could her ovaries stear.
