The Poetry of Mark Daniel Milbocker
Hermit Shells

Broken vessel gilded
in the intentions of lightning
silver stapled clay
spirals back to earth
orbits lost to the aging of burls
the ingrown instinct of tectonics
blossoms into fossiliferous quartzs
whose song sparkles in harmonies
that lift the heavy-hearted upon
Aeolian flumes to the hidden places
no yearning can own or believe
until we shed our separateness
and climb the great coconut tree.
