The Poetry of Mark Daniel Milbocker
Orchestral

Amid the mellifluous hum of
the infrared-breasted piccolo
the tourmaline oboe
belches verdant tones
caressed by viola bows
igniting the kindling audience
cello tremors moan whole-heartedly
as indigo bassoons exhale
their cathedral bellows and
timpanic rumbles quicken the
aural anticipation of the
citrine carillon of clarinets
sparkling like golden cornets
announcing the arrival of
the contrabass king who
dismisses the crowd of it all

The assemblage of diverse layers
of peculiar resonance ranges paint
a welcome portraiture within
Minkowski frames where all are welcome
to indulge in the vibrating dance
that too quickly is dilluted into
stillness syncopated by the errant
spasm as the mind relives echoes of joy
from the fall of the pollock-threaded
collapse of cloud-chamber trajectories
that perforate the jelly of our blank
stare struggling to accept the fall
of steel pinions into place as the
fulcrum of moments rotates round
some argent orrery afloat
on ruby-throated bearings.
