The Poetry of Mark Daniel Milbocker
Pestled

Medicinal the bitter
taste of asphalt and
tar redolent of sulphur
and high octane exhales

One might imagine
the almost vinyl nose
of dark-roasted varnish
piercing the bonds of
an entrapped amygdala

In a cascade of adrenergic
apprehension, prey startles
to the frenzied evisceration
of self and the purported purposes
of the facade of crushed bones
upon which we journey.
