The Poetry of Mark Daniel Milbocker
Ambitions of the Magdalene

The potter's wheel spins
cold form tossed at bat
gripping into form from
the relentless orbit of
a spiral unable to curl,
apprentice sits down
with angled knife twists
words with a stutter
into a chatter of jumping
spheres into galaxies
sgraffito carved to reveal
a repressed oblivion of
kaleidoscopic mandela effects
lit with the flickering gaslight
of morality tales we taught
priests to scold our inner
child into submission so
we can kneel before Olympians
and break our hardfired ampules
of spikenard into our filamentous
comprehension of naked feet.
