The Poetry of Mark Daniel Milbocker
Emerald Lies

Emerald lies the eyes, the sweaty quartz of life
Panting of stone fires and savage incantations
Writhing on the sunlight sear of altar flats
Jade beats the hearts, the jagged jasper of love.

Ocean paints the deep, the breathy beryl of motion
Rhyming in solemn tone and desperate surviving
Submersing to the bottom's dwell of algae rock
Lapis surface froths, the timeless tumult of space.

Dark sparkles the end, the old and onyx of age
Whispering in lapp'ed sands of fervent finality
Etching beyond all care of artful monoliths
Jets of silent fire, the timeless trials of time.

Molten swirls the rage, the ruby rivers of Is
Consuming in abysmal conceit the careless cries
Fusing beneath sulphur halls of scarlet flame
Stained vaults of glass, the heaven of endless birth.

White flows the mind, the chalk cliffs of concept
Built over the geodic gorge - a graven idol
Spiring to cloud cities of nascent nebule
Ice bridges the expanse, the web of waking dreams.

Slate silver of dullen days, the micah mines of joy
Splintered as the stars surrendered by savor's sage
Turned to triumph's tender moment of passion's place
Pewter ore condenses, the solder of persevering peace.

Green and verdant lies the plain, the teeming genesis
Slaking with lucious stream and piquant earth
Tilled with tiring hand and imagination's eye
Mossy dream-fires burn, the journey to mortal sleep.
