The Poetry of Mark Daniel Milbocker
Gazed

The world is alight,
a glittering,
of endless family reunions
cold soda tingling down
tangy chicken mayo drenched
sandwich bites, chewed
while laughing and sharing
tales of simple milestones
as quoits are tossed with bravado
and proud smiles share recipes
and we trace each other's scars.

It all ends in a nap
and a belly warmed by the
heat of the hearthlight
dappling between shadows,
as tendrils of tobacco rise
and puppies nibble on
forgotten toes, with sunfall
waning to lay our eyes gently
down upon warm sands
and our dreams are unyoked
from the day and its memories
are affectionately sown into
yet another quilted square.
