The Poetry of Mark Daniel Milbocker
Caesura

Spin among the alpine edelweiss
sturdy like the Himalayan poppy
blue but biding the chilly gust
softly miming the walls fallen away

Be content for we know the glacier
still tills unexpected tomorrows but
in this cozy microclimate pocket of glee
let the ultraviolet-ray-burn be at bay

Unwind your krummholz-hollowed heart
to unmuzzle the coniferous resin howl
with the cloud chamber still phantoms
of adiabatic breath hanging midday

No one can see your tiny adventure
stepping outside your hide and growl
a smile escaping the toothed cage
relaxed and unhackled feathers unfrayed

Nod when the curtain heavy hangs
and portends the croon of a newly noon
sated by the cyanotic cool of oxygen
then blush firm for the cry of the mockingjay.
