The Poetry of Mark Daniel Milbocker
Whittling Pump

Deeply nestled roots draw
from the profoundly pelagic
though gnawed by blind moles
an unrelenting xylem flows

Denisovan roams with taut attention
his reptile stalk budding
learning to escape the instinctual
with a darker hunger

Dim winter stillness
whittles the hunt into warm dreams
as the mind's endless mine
brings diamond realizations
to ember-burnt-daylight
