The Poetry of Mark Daniel Milbocker
Blossom Melt

Tender as a newly fallen tendril
molted and pumping ichor into wings
throbbing in time with the starspill,
the wilting exhilaration of the oxygenless
transmogrifies poison into spiced wine

As the unshaded twilight beats down
apertures blink in lunatic ripples
with a proboscis born to suckle deep

my funnel lipped, friend

ever the boy with broken limb
never the hare quivering unaware
forever the distinguished polymath's whim

recklessly scrawling formulae
across the asses of fossil derrieres
picking through Ra's pineal gland
and the perseverations of Linnean days
to find beneath his warm sinews
there angelic love lays
