The Poetry of Mark Daniel Milbocker
Fields of Joy

Why to know is to embrace
in our peabrain petri dish
what was admired from afar
boasted of petnames and
the repeatability of kisses.

But whether
conflationary or intuitive
studied or an epiphanic encounter
love carries us beyond curiosity
surpasses the crude lust to enslave
yearns to trace with caresses
the bloodiness of spear wounds
balks not at astonishment
but abandons the confinements
of self to wander no longer
fig-leafed in Elysian joy.
