The Poetry of Mark Daniel Milbocker
Untethered

The sting of the scotch bonnet pepper
awakens the sweetest of barbecues
prodded over urban grates that bedeck
concrete islands where street light coconuts
are entangled in shoelace dreams of
underdogs and their hunting packs
at the corners of convergence where
buskers play their onion mandolines
for the throngs that perambulate this
purgatory of unmarked mausoleums,
a marina of untethered voices drifting
upon waves of laughter both measured
and unrestrained.
