The Poetry of Mark Daniel Milbocker
Dissident

Impenetrable tempest fire
as volcanic as a seraphic dervish
a lightning of emulsifications
insolubles conjured into new elementals
leaving the tarprinted brimstone of
sacrificial ambitions tossing
kings upon the eternal pyre
in rumpled ermine and peasant ire
with words like guillotines
that cleave gobs of bobbed heads
into embers of winded madness
staved on turret-tops their riddled
torsos catapulted across moral bounds
mortal effigies of lost virtue
clay feet melting in the second flood
lemming waves of resonant fury
redolent with apoplectic apocrine rage
striking a tremor to the walled heart
relieving newborn bowels of their meconium
twisting frenzy into ardent apostasy
to be the ten-fold pestilence
that decimates the frivolous whimsy
of the coronated caprice of mice
gnawing at our freighter lashings
while we careen the billow and swell

the dissident rides at the crow's nest
sobering the storm-soaking of death's
swallow to drown in the rampant
conflagration of Alexandria's light,
sword-slashed scrolls burning to beckon
our lost course inviting us to lay
down beneath the mountain in the
shallow ditch of our own digging
and pray for the rain of mountain bilge
to extinguish what should never blaze.
