The Poetry of Mark Daniel Milbocker
Wilting Gracefully

Gardenia cream tinged with frangipani
orange blossom aroma hanging on a citrus wind
carressing a sunset cheek longing for a smile
forgotten on a lagoon-laden daydream isle

Roses once rouge fade to a jonquil hue
caramel eyes moistened by a melancholy fog
long blossom clinging to the droop of fairy tales
longing to be plucked from this merciless jail

A spray of children gather like wallpaper
as the old curmudgeon adjusts himself to
let the matron of the gardens sow her seed
and write her valiant tale of dandelions freed.
