The Poetry of Mark Daniel Milbocker
The Progeny of Druids

It is the innocence of the unknowing
that teaches a child to fingerpaint
in the absence of ochre-studded cavewalls
and give bison puppydog ears unaware
of the spearpointed rituals that
would have awaited their prepuce and
the honor of tribal annointing

Behold the upturning of urinating crucifixes
in this porcelain chamberpot of piety
we call the day cloaking our nocturnal
emissions as winestain birthmarks
and climbing up to our lectern perch-
how quickly we learn the beauty of teflon
and lick our fingers clean pointing
our blackened tongue toward the nearest cairn.
