The Poetry of Mark Daniel Milbocker
Buffalo White

How masterfully woven the
the ancestry of the individual
as wide as the Tree of Life may grow
yet a singular glimmer of Guf,
the unnamed enumeration,
of the irrational numeral
tattoo'ed behind our ear
an arcane reminder of
our unary existence
the starfire that bleachs
our ruddy nature into
a newfallen baptism into
the Multitudinosity that
flows upon the Great River

Baby bison bellows with obsidian eyes
safe so long as winter endures
sign and symbol of the unimpossible
soon the herd will tire of the
braying of unseen grasses but
the promise will remain
threaded between the beads of being
is the dignity of the self-aware
and so shall prosper the unviable
in ways unpredictable yet
awesome to behold even once
in a lifetime.
