The Poetry of Mark Daniel Milbocker
Redecompression

How strained and sweaty hot wax the day's impertinances
cougar-thirsty left and wolf-hungry right reversed
into a kaleidoscopic smear of fading phosphors and
the thick cerebral sludge of cataloged colognes swaggering
smiles drooping to sip grenadine-ambered negroni nightscenes
all apuff and spread bow legged across the vermillion couch
dreams dripping like the peacock plummage of chandelier crystal
but the brass glint sobers the wet wandering eye that dilates
from the incessant demands to stare straightly and obliquely west
where the goldfinches peck at yellow cob nuggets garnered from
the rockless riverbed of our limbs outlaid un-akimbo-ed into
an antenna array of brain nerves phaging the falling aftersunlight
treading the amplifications of bubbling river vibrations that
coax the sedimentary to new resting places where they orbit for
a few moons before descending to the lower potential of scattered
sands, our sorrowful dustbowl spent into the newfallenness of
the meandering monsoonrise when we shall sit up suddenly and
awaken to the call to prayer to earn our right to remain a
pebble pearl denucleating so soon to leave our nacred artwork
for another offsprung compression not quite yet fire-stoked
strange crude puddling from our grapes squeezed into the
next unctuous yet unbotrytic beaujolais nouveau.
