The Poetry of Mark Daniel Milbocker
Pandora's Vault

Wander to the mountain top
above the need for breathing
beyond the brazenness of broken tablets
chiseling away the matrix from
the roughly crystalline
where the ceaseless struggle subsides
embedded in guru-folded legs
a box of unremarkable intarsia
holds faith's fallen star between
unnaturally ideal vertices
sealed by an insatiable vacuum.

But one so pure of heart and
worthy of humanity's inheritance
breathes warmth into silence
to pop the unhinged top and
gaze upon the prize
a swollen receptor revealed
hunger wailing against its horizon
space suddenly set aprey amidst
convulsions of temporal wanting
lusting to join the cave wall dance
and be cut by its truthy serrations
exposed yet swaddled by mind's
merciful condescension.
