The Poetry of Mark Daniel Milbocker
The Polyphonic Wonderland

Gazing at the plinthed anomaly
stable in its cyclical topology
pulsing sine wave synchronicity
lapped and gently flame-licked
folding atavistically against
the taut tether of adoration
of those desiring to consume
but paralyzed by the need
to be pricked and enthralled
bloodletting skeptic ichor
for the transfused spectral
colors in stark juxtaposition
along triadic pinwheels commingling
jang-jingling against the melting
of the candlelit dais and the
peripheral panopticon focal point
strange quasar of matter=thought
conversion or conversation
one perfect moment in a cracked
clay bowl pushed toward the
immendacious mendicance that
ever waits and welcomes

Here the wounded stand whole
sheathed in salmonskin armor
their avulsed burns no longer sting
or hinder the unitribal dance
around the atemporal bonfire
of the star-dappled quale faces
whose melanated scars sparkle against
the milieu of naked innocence
every tankard full of last golden
droplets of valor unsung or spoken
with a crusty loaf passed among

The sun-carved ocean breaks at
each foot in dancing limpet symphony
as sand fleas tickle long and hairy toes
a beryllium-fusion sapphire memory
broken shell hiding a leathery case
egg tooth hatching childhood dreams
into the strange waxy copal of
nascent pre-apprehension salt-splashed
and scorched by the flare of hormones
mother ocean gathers her boys into
her unquestioning surf and spiraling waves
painting the sunrise in faintly edged
iridescent sheets of hummingbird-scaled
shimmer coronated with the crash of
the cadent seashore against the abyss

We all masquerade as lesser while glowing
with symphonic herald humbly transfigured
from the barnacle-adorned masked in legacy
to silent seraphim burning as one
intimate conflagration forever unconsumed
