The Poetry of Mark Daniel Milbocker
Oceanic Ascent

Take my hand,
let us wade out into the deep,
swim with the transcendentals
and unhold our fears as they
brush by our flailing limbs.

Treading to span from unity's strand
til we wreck into diversity's flotsam,
facts become the frantic jetsam of seekers
who dare heroic humility and
lay back into floating death.

Frigid waters stop not the beat
or breast whose embers yearn
and refuse the exhale
until our lips are reunited
as we exchange oxygen to
fuse our ardency and rise above
hurricanes of inbred thought,
our eye fixed upon Oumuamua so that
untethered we may alight
ad astra amoris.
