The Poetry of Mark Daniel Milbocker
Crimes of Chlorophyll

Before the rex wreaked carnage on
pteranodons and wolves packed their
bellies with rabbit chew
tendrils choked and ravished
the unthorned and eager to
spear the canopy and unfurl
into the solar plane
creating a cacophony of glycosides
dripping with sapping war wounds
trumpets call hun hordes of
the winged and many-legged
and desparate thrusts burst
saccarine hoards open
far-flung and plungent to
enthrall bumble addicts and
chiropteric thieves in the night
so emerald cities may rise from
Vulcan's leavings and haboob spice
as Methuselah watches
the fall of once verdant empires and
the final crystallization of kauri.
