The Poetry of Mark Daniel Milbocker
Your Mercy, Oh God

Your Mercy, Oh God,
is like the most delicate blanket
which comforts and envelopes
the wounded, weeping child -
held in the arms of its Father
there is security and warmth
so close to a loving Heart.

And in the familiar embrace
there is security to rest and heal
from so many batterings.
Hold me, sweet Jesus, and let
my blind eyes awaken to the
image of your concerned countenance.

In your eyes, my Lord
is strength enough for this day,
with your Spirit, there is hope
to endure my wanderings,
And if I should faint from the journey,
I will rest for the moment, knowing
I need only open my eyes
to find your embrace.
