The Poetry of Mark Daniel Milbocker
Nacrid

Unnesting builds the callus
the nictitating panoply one wears
to dragonslay or wander between
the stars and constellations of
the dynastics of geneplay
to pull skeletons from the pool
ready to molt the blush for the
cuckoo's cry sharply fading
as meridians transambulate
and we dance amongst their fur
on wrinkled fate pulled taut
by a smiling spinneret exuding
the magic of the opalescence of nacre
well spent between the cracks
and curvaceous lips of an apatite
for shells ground into an elixir
to pour into our myrrh-encased mollusk
hardening into the baroque and
goldenshine of the morninglight
just as our black pearl dreams close
their final glint.
