The Poetry of Mark Daniel Milbocker
In Situ

Seated on hewn roots
imagine if polyester were pelt
and spectacles gave way
to the acuity of an inhale
would we eye the same prey
shiver with temporal forebodings
turn our imaginings to the same star
lust for the same comforts?

Do our minds
share the same images if not words
instincts if not feelings
perspective if not society or schema
awe if not dogma?

We smile upon our children
cast our daily nets
recline to the same slumber
and dream against nightmares
our will ever driven by the same dopamine,
as the same serotonin twinkles in
the brightness of our eyes
and oxytocin blooms with a kiss
for those we love.
