The Poetry of Mark Daniel Milbocker
Love's Function

To be or not to do
Love is like serpentine autofellation
No justification is asked
It is a matter of deep instinct
Self-similarity falling into diversity's lust
dank and wallowing musk-laden and given
to the act of procreation
or the worship of beauty's toe
kissing my apple of your eye.

Let us fabricate so I may know you
Tell me your proper functions
Bleed your pus and sweat into
the chalice of my hands cupping
to hold whatever you'll pour into me
as I pray it may catch your last breath
and hold it to my heart
despite time's cruel insistence
I shall stop the deluge of reality
in love's bubble castle
and together we shall cross
thresholds together
yoked and entwined,
galled and wizened,
to become the sweetest resin.
