The Poetry of Mark Daniel Milbocker
Shaking

The existential shivers 'cross the unwelcoming of nerves
whose heliotropisms fantasize of brighter days
tears no longer moisten the crustiness of aging concerns
those gutteral heavings that eventually pass for
breaths and the stillness of a heartbeat held
between the fading of the beloved and the next load
of laundry and hastily cauldroned soup though no crusts
remain to dip in the river of shared savoriness - just
jabbings at what remains of the hearth fire and our
last stolen embers.
