The Poetry of Mark Daniel Milbocker
The Collectively Unconscious

Born with vitiligo scales
my shimmer only points out
the matteness of the hydra's feathers
the sea of dusted gray wigs and camo merkins
gushing gullets choking from consumption
the death rattle of the tribe
beat on darker drumskins and blank stares
each fixed on a different gaudiness
yet I meander
the deserts and mountain passes
never sleep in the same cave twice
watch the sunset of atom bomb splits
and lick my undoctored wounds
chimp-scratching what I cannot itch
for this pruritis is an unknown plague
snaking through the tiny spaces
where only the mindless monk can spy.
