The Poetry of Mark Daniel Milbocker
Flaws in Undoped Glass

Though many bathe in ruby hues and
sapphire blues amid obsidian spires,
it is with opal eyes soulfire wise
that play in the spectral flashes
of pristine ice crashes that
prod the oceanic into a frenzied wave.

In glassy candled pools we are poured
between crucibles until our yolk breaks
into the cream of a tastier cake
manna for the muzzled mute who preys
upon salty biscuit absolutes
washing down the words our father gave.
