The Poetry of Mark Daniel Milbocker
Charoset Glaze

So many masks grin for the unmantled
cornucopia of rainbow hats and black
turtlenecks donned by the twiggy who
clink their glasses while not paying their taxes
filling the wind with profusions of promises
and telling the listeners their stories,
movies made from corporate nappies traded
between speed predating to divide and
conquest splay to pay for the unoccupied
territories they hold in earnest stay

But the dandelion-eyed scatter between their
fingerings and flutter beyond their stray,
unpinned yet in a formaldehyde daze of
society's stewing stone soup to feed those
hungry for their paranoia pill dreaming
of waking to horseradish-buttered steak
while bitter herbs entrance their tongue
lashed endeavors into compromised compliance
until the corner payphone rings to chill
the daily deluge with a splash of ataxic play
