The Poetry of Mark Daniel Milbocker
Lilyglow

As I gaze upon my bit of earth
where I may decay, lone lily ornaments
the absence of pyres, mourners, and sin-eaters
his petals gilded with morning light
and dew nectar squeezed out by the early chill
like some angelic amber immaculately clear
except for the tiny bubbles of your metabolizing
which like a baby's breath spray bows
to the viscosity of your beautiful gravitas
gracefully bending between breezes
soft spoken song sung in pollen perfumes
full-hearted tears caught up on the winds of change
you cast moon shadows on my velvet blackness
a solitary focus amid the intertwinings
of strange geometries unbent by
this warm radiation that keeps the night at bay
sallow florescence phosphoresces from the
violet rays and rings of moon dogs and
dark rainbows that hide those speak-easy moments
of unfettered jubilation when we wolf down
sunshine like it were sweetened ice tea
or the peppermint-stick in fresh lemonade
sucking deeply from the tip of my roots
I lay back arms wide so that my stomata may open
and my wounds may drip sweet nectar
to nourish the quintessence of your glow.
