The Poetry of Mark Daniel Milbocker
Wings of the Death Chrysalis

Wrapped in fetal slumber surroundings
tired toneless bones relax apart
into the hydrothermal flux
where the incompensatable puddles
in iridescent dreams spreading
across the aquamarine wavefronts
lapping away the apatite concretions
to a crimson amalgam of starstuff

The spine sprouts threading branches
wrapping folded arches in sinew swaddle
vivianitic aspirations of a ferrite heart
caught between the crossings of inductive aurorae
and the flight from former morphoses
facing the icy wind of tundra unconquered

Ligated tendons harden to complete the
crystallography of an animus refracting
the impending dawn from its arrival
forgetting the toil of departure patiently
submitting to probabilities congealing
while yearning lends a golden sheen to the myrrh

Unraveling from castings of clay unfinished
but breathing and unstoppably burgeoning
fluid limbs pumped to turgidity pan skyward
lungs bursting from the amniosis outstretching
the grandeur of angels dries in the morning light
while the proboscis soul readies for the nectargush
and furry antennae sense the rustle of constellations
caught in the moment of waiting for the
final heart beat
