The Poetry of Mark Daniel Milbocker
Erosions of Equilibration

abrasions stab at a homeostasis
that promised to dawn in gentle warmth
but runny egg yolked across the tears
of the peeled swaddlings of familiarity,
coveted normality, a nadir polished by
stars finding their constellations
above the wanderingly tunneled wormwood
below the burl and swirl of galaxies
giving way to scarab-scarred creation

a clatter of metronomes leaning like
pendula revealing the world turning,
a fingertip dividing the oceans of sand
from the dream feather not yet weighed
each silicon center flicked into orbit
to leave a cloud of comet trails amongst
the decompensations of ionic ideations
diffusing across the midnight blue sky
taking away the barriers to milkiness

while my organism organization molts
egochitin into protoplasmic weeping
fallen petals gathered into a womb
caught in a flexing omentum of want
deep breath exhaled into small pant
relaxing between the resistless spasms
reluctant torsions of distention endured
then emerge the forms of new normality
to devour the husk of so ardent a certainty

so say hello to tomorrow's open eyed child
and let your lids fall into eclampsia
gracefully departing into the western wild.
